JOIN THEOLOGY & PEACE FOR “MIMESIS AT THE MOVIES” ON AUGUST 7th

Mimesis @ The Movies is a live open-to-all online conversation that meets on the first Thursday of each month. We discuss a film suggested by a discussion participant. In sharing beautiful, thoughtful films with one another, we seek out stories depicting interpersonal growth nurtured by shared desires.

Mimesis @ The Movies, Theology & Peace’s online movie club,  will meet again on August 7th at 7:30 PM (ET). Join us in discussing Philippe de Broca’s 1966 film, King of Hearts.

The gathering free, but you must register in advance with Humanitix to receive the Zoom link. The link will be emailed to you from Humanitix shortly before the discussion begins.

King of Hearts is a 1966 French/Italian international co-production comedy/drama film starring Alan Bates and Geneviève Bujold. The film is available to view at no cost.

The film is set in a small town in France near the end of World War I. As the Imperial German Army retreats, they booby trap the whole town to explode. The locals flee and, left to their own devices, a gaggle of cheerful lunatics escape the asylum and take over the town — thoroughly confusing the lone Scottish soldier who has been dispatched to defuse the bomb.

If you don’t have time to view the film, don’t let that stop you from participating in our discussion. A plot synopsis will be provided at the beginning of the meeting.

Life’s busy! If you don’t have time to view the film, don’t let that stop you from coming to our discussion. A plot synopsis will be provided at the beginning of the meeting.
